Traditional in Contemporan

Disclaimer: This is a post that is heading more for the Romanian audience. But in respect for the ones that don’y know Romanian and want to know more of my opinion towards the beautiful Traditional Romanian fashion down is a translation to my post. Thanks again for watching!

At the end of January we had a short photo session with my wife, Simona Ion, outside in the snow. The point of this photo shoot was to introduce a small part of the traditional Romanian port in the everyday modern outfit. And this part was represented by a scarf flourished with a black background (purchased from Iiana).

What I am trying or we are trying to prove with these photos is that we have to evolve from wearing the full national port, which is not practical nowadays and not many people appreciates it so much, to introducing some traditional elements in the daily outfit. And here are some examples: we can replace the scarf or shawl with a flowery traditional scarf, we can replace the leather belts  with rhinestones or the newer Swarovski crystals with the Tradional belts , we can replace the loose shirts in summer (70% plastic) with short sleeve traditional Romanian blouse (which is available for both women and men). And there can be more example.

We must begin to be creative with what we dress and try to keep our national identity through the gradual introduction of these elements . Because as you can see our historical and Traditional identity is wasted at an extremely alarming rate.

Abroad, they have already begun to use our traditional ancient symbols and say about them that are tribal prints. Why can’t we do something like that and put these signs in front, exposing them as much as we can, to show the world that they are not tribal, but are Romanian, Dacian, as they are ours. We are still not proud of being Romanians and that what we have is extremely beautiful and full of ancient meanings.

The conclusion is that we must begin to wear as much national port as we can and not necessarily the complete port, but we can introduce at least one (if you cannot have more than one) in the daily outfit. We need to take pride in what we have.

I hope you will enjoy the photos and if you have comments about what I wrote , I invite you to leave one!
Thank you so much for viewing and any like, share or comment is greatly appreciated!
