#VizitainHD – Fermele ADO

[eng] The actual first part of the visit in Hunedoara started with a small road trip to ADO Farms, somewhere close to Hateg. When we stepped down the bus I got stunned by the impressive scenery of the combination between the sky, mountains and camps.

The farms were just around our backs, but we couldn’t get our eyes from the amazing landscape. That gave me a lot of inspiration, photography and as well spiritualy wise. I made a panorama as well, but I still need to stitch it and of course I will share with into a next post all the panoramas I made on this trip.

[eng] First thing we visited in the farms were the cattle barns, were every cow is treated like a princess :D. They are well nurtured, with plenty of fresh food for all of them. They have as well scratching brushes were they can go and scratch or massage they’re backs. It was pretty amazing to see something like this. As well I understood that the ratio of calves born in this farms is about one per day, which is really amazing. And all this calves from only one bull :D.

From the photographic point of view, the barns were full with details, starting of course with the large number of cows and finishing with the scratching brushes or the barn locks. Even though the light outside was very bright, the light inside the barns was pretty low, that made me bumping up de ISO and lowering the exposure times.

[eng] After we finished seeing the cows, calves and the places where they get the milk from cows, we went to see the stables where they were holding the goats, pigs and donkeys. We were explained that they needed the donkeys just for the goats to have some kind of a leader, due to the donkey’s higher stature. We got to see as well a sow feeding 6 pink cute piglets.

Here, the lighting conditions changed drastically, going from longer exposure times and a higher ISO to a very bright light, forcing me to use the lowest ISO and very short exposure times.

[eng] When we finished visiting the pigs and goats stables, the CEO of ADO Farms showed us the massive greenhouses were they were growing from radishes and green onion to supermarket style tomatoes. We’ve actually seen when they were loading a truck full of radishes and as well we got to enter in one of the biggest greenhouses I’ve ever been in, full with tomato plants and of course tomatoes. I managed to make a lot of photos of the 6 tomatoes “sets”, the long rows going on both sides of the main corridor and of course I managed to capture Simona together with Sansa in few of the shots.

[eng] After all this site seeing our hosts surprised all of us with serving us a lunch only with products made on their farms, starting from tomatoes, onions and radishes to steaks and sausages.

[eng] It was a really nice experience learning so much about cows, goats and greenhouse agriculture.

Many thanks to ADO Farms for their hospitality and to our organizers to make this interesting experience happen!
